Chondroitin – ny forskning

Chondroitin sulfat i præparatet Chondro-Lenk er et større sukkermolekyl, som udvindes fra oksebrusk, og består af repeterede enheder af galactosamin og glucuronsyre, men med betydelig variation både i struktur og størrelse (25-40 kDa).
Et studie med raske frivillige og personer med artrose viser, at også chondroitin sulfat absorberes fra tarmen.
Chondroitin har en gunstig effekt på smerte og funktion, som kan observeres efter 1-2 måneders behandling. Kombineret effekt-estimat i forhold til placebo:
Chondroitin:
Funktion-smerte: 0,33 (95% CI 0,13-0,53), p=0.002.
